Discover San Salvador de Jujuy

Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

San Salvador de Jujuy, commonly known as Jujuy and locally often referred to as San Salvador, is the capital and largest city of Jujuy Province in northwest Argentina. Also, it is the seat of the Doctor Manuel Belgrano Department. It lies near the southern end of the Humahuaca Canyon where wooded hills meet the lowlands.

As you wander through the streets of San Salvador de Jujuy, you'll be amazed by the stunning colonial architecture that has been well preserved over the years. The town's main square, Plaza Belgrano, is the perfect spot to start your exploration. Here, you'll find the imposing Cathedral of San Salvador, which dates back to the 18th century and houses some of the most beautiful religious art in the region.

If you're a history buff, you won't want to miss the Museo Histórico Provincial, which showcases the city's fascinating past and the indigenous cultures that once thrived in the area. For art lovers, the Museo de Bellas Artes houses an impressive collection of contemporary and traditional works by local artists.
